A Simple Favor

Entertaining film, but not great. A single mom befriends a high profile PR exec and the hijinks begin. Kinda' predictable plot even with the twists and turns, but I find anything with Anna Kendrick watchable and she's VERY watchable here...wink, wink

Atlas

Ugg....J-Lo is completely miscast in this action movie. That is a bit like the terminator and a bit like 2001and more than a bit disappointing. Only worth watching if you're a masochist

Civil War

I do not care for Dystopian films or books. More times than not, we are plunged into a world and given 0 explanation as to how we got there. No exception here. Is America a divided nation? Yes. Are we anywhere near civil war? No. Story follows a group of war reporters as they sojourn to DC before the rebels take it. It was tough to make it all the way to the end. I love Nick Offerman, but the rest of this cast I could do without. Pass

Late Night with the Devil

Bizarre rather twisted horror picture set on Halloween Night 1977, a talk show host has a show on the occult and one of the guests is a girl who is possessed by a demon. It doesn't end well. For fans of the genre....

The Fall Guy

Mildly entertaining film based on the old TV show. Watchable at times, boring at others. Good Cast, bad soundtrack, average in almost every way. 7.3 IMDB rankings is too high. Extremely forgettable

Blood of Zeus

Wow. What a show this is. It has a Shakespearean level story that's steeped in the Greek Mythos. The Anime-style animation is just kinda' average, nothing the level of Blue-Eyed Samurai, but the story is complex and compelling and makes up for it all. Season 2 just dropped and it ends with a WHOPPER that makes it look like S3 has the potential to be gigantic(wink, wink). It's the stuff the of dreams for fans of fantasy, animation and people who can just appreciate an epic story. A Must See

Godzilla vs. Kong: New Empire

This is actually a pretty shitty sequel, but seeing big monsters fight is always watchable...

Mother of the Bride

DNF which is rare for me....I couldn't and you should get a medal if you make it through with all the good entertainment out there.... look elsewhere. Brooke Shields has not aged well and I am not buying her as a world renown geneticist or this cast in general. Pass

Bodkin

Very nice little mystery drama with a lot of twists and turns. Will Forte is outstanding as a kind of a duche bag podcaster who goes to Ireland to investigate a cold case. Entertaining with some dry humor splashed in between plot twists, worth the time.

Fallout

Pretty terrific post-apocalypse mayhem based on the iconic video game series, story moves along at a brisk and engaging pace and it's quite campy. It has an absolutely terrific soundtrack of old-timey classics. It's Imaginative, well-written and great all around fun

Spider Man: Across the Multiverse

Its not often that we see animation that is revolutionary, but here it is in all it's shining glory. A visual treat that never ceases to amaze the eyes. It's far too long, but everything else is money. Don't hesitate

Cabrini

Magnificent in every regard. Better than every film in the Best Picture category last year, including Oppenheimer. Cast, Script, Cinematography... Mexican Director Alejandro Monteverde captures turn of the century Five Points New York every but as well as Scorsese in Gangs of New York and has created a film about Italians that applies to All people. Given the fact Mexican immigration is a hot topic he reminds us we were ALL immigrants once. Just Stupendous This is the reason people go the movies. A MUST SEE and I would guess a cinch for some Oscar Nods

Baby Reindeer

This is Brilliant. You'll start by wondering why this guy doesn't phone the police, but its gets complicated... This is Sooo twisted and uncomfortable that you cant avert your eyes, like passing by a bad accident. A MUST WATCH from our friends across the pond

Call the Midwife

There are 12 seasons of this available on Netflix and they are currently airing s13 and I watched every damn one of them and it's absolutely sublime, albeit in that British sort of way. Over the course of its duration characters come in and come out without any loss of quality thanks to the writing of Heidi Thomas and others. You will grow to love these characters and you will probably cry every episode and you will witness hundreds of childbirths, but the show is a joy. (season 11 is the best) It takes place in real time, show starts in London circa 1958 and each season another year turns with all the historical accoutrements which lends to its authenticity and each season has a Christmas special. It may be a little reserved, melodramatic and slow for American tastes, but English people are far more reserved in general so this tracks. That very high rating of 8.6 might be too low...TAKE THE PLUNGE you wont regret it.
