Outer Range

Just finished s2 and although I do not care for time travel stories in general, this one isn't too bad. I did not care for Lily Hall's work as Cecilla, normal a solid actress she misplays a few scenes and the blame maybe on the director here, but nonetheless they could have done better. Otherwise solid cast, lead by another great Josh Brolin performance, spectacular location shooting and a compelling story all make for great viewing. Unfortunately, just at the end of season 2 you can see where this may start to become convoluted, the trap that all time travel stories seem to succumb to. We shall see

Billy the Kid

If you are looking for a good western, look no further. This is not only entertaining, but if you do the homework you'll find it is mostly historical fiction. The characters and events of this show are based on true facts and it was a bit of ? as to why the creators weren't marketing this more. They did take the time to duplicate almost all the known facts of Billy and weave them into a heck of a story. We watch Billy grow from a young boy to one of the most notorious outlaws in the American West. Billy the Kid...Anti-Hero. Well done all around and absolutely worth the time, double up on your go-to speed if you're a fan of Westerns and/or historical fiction

Sisu

What a terrific little action movie. From Finland, ex soldier turned prospector discovers gold at the end of world War II and is immersed in a game of cat and mouse with a group of Nazis. Tarantino would be proud, as he is an obvious influence here. Gory, action packed and well worth the time.

The Crown

I had watched the first two seasons and then life interrupted so I put it on hold. Now that the series is complete, I went back to finish. When you talk about the best shows Netflix has ever produced this has to be in the conversation. 6 seasons 3 different casts and it never flags one bit. A glimpse back into what the Elizabethan era looked like in England. Each episode is a lesson in history starting from the 1950's to almost current day. This show doesn't miss on anything. This is the definition of a must see show. It's won 21 Emmy's and that's probably not enough...

The Long Game

Outstanding sports film based on the true story of the San Felipe High Golf Team. A near perfect companion piece to MacFarland U.S.A. Focus here is on overcoming prejudices. Dennis Quaid adds a lot of legitimacy. Worth the Time

Cult Massacre: One Day in Jonestown

All I remember is that a bunch of people in a cult committed suicide by drinking Kool Aid. I was too young to remember the details. This is a must watch... Absolutely Fascinating

Ramy

Ramy Youseff and Christopher Storer, the creative team of The Bear, bring this gem to life. It tells the story of a family of Muslim immigrants in New Jersey. The series is so unique because its told from the viewpoint of Muslims and how they can struggle within American society and maintain their faith. This is some really good and insightful stuff. I have read that there will be a season 4 at some point...Worth the time

The Beautiful Game

A 6.3 IMDB rating is WAY too Low for this. One of the most heartfelt and unpredictable sports movies I have seen in quite some time. Lots to love here...

Under Paris

Way better than a 5.3 IMDB...I imagine that low of a rating is due to the fact its in French. Giant shark gets lose in the seine river and the hijinks ensue. its not perfect there are plot holes and a fair share of stupidity, but that pretty typical for this type of film. Better than a Lot of shark movies and definetly better than the Meg(s)

Hit Man

Well, well, well an original script? My heart be still. Very entertaining picture with Powell playing a part-time undercover hitman for the police where he meets Arjona and the story really begins. Nicely acted and well-written and gets a bump for the original script. By all means...

Eric

Quirky and Weird crime drama set in 1985 NYC has a great performance by Cumberbatch, but ultimately the script misses the mark when it fails to connect the dots. Lots of things to like, lots of things to hate. A mixed bag and I wouldn't go breaking the door down to see this. Soft Pass

Back to Black

I am a huge Amy Winehouse fan and I can say with confidence Marisa Abela hits an absolute home run here. She brings out the talent, volatility and passion of Amy as well as anyone possibly could have. No one could say she was miscast that's for sure. The film is a bit slow because Amy's short career and best songs were shaped with her relationship to Blake so the director had to take the time to develop that but it slows the film down considerably. All her hits are here and they save the Best for Last with Tears Dry on their Own to close the film

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga

The prequel to Mad Max Fury Road is everything one would imagine this to be with George Miller at the helm and Taylor-Joy and Hemsworth in the lead roles. I adore Anya Taylor-Joy and she shines here. In fact, if you asked me today who my favorite actress is it would probably be her. This is no big secret y'all should know what you're going to get here, lots of weirdness in one of the only dystopian stories that actually works. You will not be disappointed. Fantastic and Entertaining

Pennyworth

Terrific Entry into the DC universe, but it flew completely under the radar. Origin story of Batman's butler is extremely well-written and realized. The Action sequences are more one panel "Boom-Bams" than long drawn out sequences adding to the comic book feel. Takes place in a "gothamized" post war London with Fascist undertones. It's too bad it was cancelled after season 3 because this was damn near brilliant

Godzilla Minus One

I'd be waiting a long time to see this and finally Netflix posted it, One of the best entries ever into the Godzilla franchise. It isn't the most action-packed but it has the most impactful action of any of the films in the series. It is a bit slow at times, but the Japanese took another approach with this entry. This is more about the fate of an former Kamikaze pilot and post war Japan, then it is Godzilla a unique approach and for all its downside it does make the action more effective. Well Worth the time

Dancing for the Devil: The 7m Tik Tok Clan

Fascinating documentary but, It's hard for me to muster any sympathy for Gen Z TikToK dancers. They and their followers are mostly idiots, so it comes as no surprise they would be susceptible enough to be dragged into a cult. A great watch for parents of Gen Z kids who are obsessed with this TikTok bullshit. It's a horrible platform and it should rot in hell.
