The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh

I must say I was shocked to see this rated as a 6.2 on IMDB so I went into the user reviews to see what's up and in turns out a lot of Indian people and woke left wingers felt this was racist and stereotypical. I asked one of my Indian friends (who recommended this show to me) and he says well maybe a little, but this is sitcom so who gives a shit? So,that's where I stand. This is sitcom and if we start picking them apart looking for stereotypes you're not going to be able to watch many of them. Furthermore, this was written and created by an Indian from PA and is somewhat based on his story so again, WTF? This is a very funny, charming and engaging sitcom that is a slice above others in this rapidly failing genre. Do not let the fact the show is about an Indian family deter you from giving it a shot. It's worth the time.

Cross

In some ways a near perfect adaptation of a James Patterson novel and character. If you are a fan of Patterson, you're sure to enjoy this. If you find him to be a hack (hand raised), you're going to have issues with a story with this many plot holes and strangely hollow character development scenes. Cross pursues "fanboy" a serial killer whose victims all are made to look like other famous serial killers while simultaneously dealing with the murder of his wife. This was fairly well acted and had high production values but the series fell a bit flat for me. Still might be worth watching for a lot of people out there and this is probably the best Alex Cross since Morgan Freeman in Along Came a Spider, but that isn't really saying a lot...for me about a 6.0-6.5

Gangs of London

This wins the crown for the most violent show I've ever seen. In the mold of Peaky Blinders and The Warrior, the show has various gangs competing for control of London after the Big Boss (Colm Meany) gets killed. The police are an afterthought in this London and as mentioned it is crazy brutal, but hidden beneath the ultra-violence is a pretty good script with a lot of moving parts. S1 is way stronger than S2, but it's Well acted, filled with action and worth the time. Be warned s1e7 is not something you'll ever forget. Overall, a very good show that's way too violent...

Don't Move

Kelsey Asbille (Yellowstone) plays a grieving mother who while visiting a park is abducted by a serial killer and injected with a paralytic agent and then plays a little cat and mouse. Not half bad, of course, there are some plot holes there always is in Horror/Thrillers like this, but its not 5.8 bad. Sam Rami produced, so the quality is there and although there is nothing really new, there is a certain popcorn quality to it. Just don't expect too much and you'll be entertained enough.... Its only 90 minutes, so it wont cost you much.

The Cage

This was a DNF for me. Amateur MMA fighter knocks out the violent and villainous champion in a sparring contest at gym that hits social media, His coach still wont take him on so he goes to Canada and trains with George St. Pierre, ala Rocky, uses social media to pressure a fight with Previously mentioned champ, finds a love interest, has his scumbag mom and stepdad ask him to throw fight so they can make money, He then fights the champ to a draw...ALL this BY the end of e2????LOL.... Truncated storylines, Sophomoric script, bad acting, Overly Melodramatic and French, make this nearly impossible to like, Its got all the Whammies...with 3 more episodes to go I don't care at all what happens....HARD PASS

Outer Banks

S1 and S2 were tolerable s3 was meh and Season 4 is like a poorly written episode of Scooby-Doo...A 7.5 IMDB rating is WAY too high. If you want to watch Teen Drama try Friday Night Light whose vibe this show tries to emulate. S4 screams "cancel me 4 years with these kids is too much"

 Shining Girls

Well put together show has Moss as the lone survivor of a serial killer and her pursuit of said killer. There is a lot more there and It takes a while to get there, but this is yet another (Spoiler Alert) time travel, butterfly effect story. If you don't mind TT stories, you will love this show. If your like me and you'd rather not, probably not necessary. Had I known beforehand I probably would have passed, but it wasn't a complete waste of time. AppleTv again so rich production values

Saturday Night

Oct. 11, 1975 10:00 PM 90 minutes before the premiere of Saturday Night Live and its chaos at NBC studios. Unfolds in real time with a host of great supporting actors including JK Simmons and William Defoe. This is a gem of film that will leave people of a certain generation with a smile on their face and memories of just how cutting edge and kick ass SNL was. Do not pass up a chance to see this one. Currently in theatres and Prime....

Black Bird

Older Apple entry from 2022, Based on the true story of serial killer, Larry Hall, Fantastic Psychological drama about the child-killer in prison and up for appeal and the convict planted there to get the dirt. Hauser is super creepy as Hall and the supporting cast is great. This will keep you captivated the entire time. I watched it straight through, (6 episodes) and barely blinked. AppleTV+ strikes again

Foundation

Based on Isaac Asimov's The Foundation Trilogy, another extremely ambitious project from AppleTV+ that pretty much defines the term "Space Opera". Jared Harris plays a scientist in a 12,000 year old Galactic Empire who creates an algorithm so complex it can predict the future and the future isn't good for Empire. Epic and extremely complex, the story spans many centuries and always seems to add more characters and locales as the show progresses, but if you can get by the complexity and confusing concepts, there is much to like here. The 2nd season isn't as strong as the first (its gets a bit Disney Star Warsy s2), but the third promises to be the best one yet. This probably wont be for everyone's taste, but it is definitely worth checking out and if your into hardcore sci-fi you need to watch it.

Disclaimer

The finale of this show is the most powerful thing I've seen all year...A married women (Blanchett) and her 5 year old son are on vacation in Italy when she meets a younger boy and has an affair that ends in tragedy. Kevin Kline plays the boy's grieving father and after the death of his wife decides to exact revenge on Blanchett by publishing a book his wife had written. This is what happens when you take maybe the best script of the year and put it into the hands of a masterful creator like Cuaron. The results are powerful and explosive and has one of the best left turns you will ever see. Blanchett, Kline and Sascha Baron Cohen all are magnificent. The direction and pacing are perfect and when this story hits home, it hits with a Mack Truck. Destined to be omnipresent during awards season. Another Bullseye from Apple Tv+

Alien Romulus

Did not finish watching it, because I didn't have to. The only thing different about this entry is that it is aimed directly at teenagers. Which is kinda' smart because that is the only possible segment of the population that can find a film like this worth watching...Flat lifeless characters will have you rooting for the alien....Avoid like the plague, unless you want the same old same old

Bad Sisters

I knew I was going to love this when the opening funeral sequence's background music was Ralph Stanley's O Death and one of the closing scenes features Colter Wall Sleeping on the Blacktop. There are 5 Irish sisters and 1 is married to a world-class prick, so the other 4 plot to kill him, but they aren't the only ones. The score, the script, the acting, this series is tremendous in every respect and another superior entry from AppleTV+

Shrinking

Currently airing its second season....Jason Segal, Harrison Ford and Jessica Williams all share a psychiatric practice and each other lives. Complex examination of human relationships is filled with wonderful characters and compelling storylines while being equally parts funny and dramatic. This is yet another feather in AppleTV's hat which is starting to look like a Native American
war bonnet. A very hard show not to like. Highly Recommended!

Sweetpea

Ella Purnell is bullied in high school and then overlooked and walked on in life. She finally reaches the breaking point and turns into an unlikely serial killer. Produced by Starz and Sky TV, this British production is an extremely entertaining show that's worth the time. Purnell is great, as is the whole cast, but I questioned whether or not Purnell was too cute to play the ignored girl, but I was assured she was not....Most will find this enjoyable and relatable

Hijack

OMG. Now THIS is entertainment. Indris Elba plays a corporate negotiator on a flight from Dubai to London that is, of course, hijacked. Splits time between the plane and multiple locations on the ground and incredibly this actually plays out in close to real time. An all British cast with Elba being magnificent as always. This was so good I actually watched most of the final episode standing up! Edge of your seat stuff and the final episode is incredible, Almost, legendary TV.... 7.4 is far too low. This has been renewed for a second season and I am not sure how or why? I mean it ends perfectly, but there is still some unresolved stuff on the ground, but the Hijack storyline was wrapped. Dear Lord, thank you for Apple TV. I am not paid by Apple but my god the shows on here....You need to get access to this content.....It's worth Every Penny (That i dont spend) wink wink
